Who is responsible

The controller under the GDPR is George Shahem, GeoVenture Labs™, Wuppertal, Germany.

The website and hosting

We have added no analytics, advertising pixels, social plugins or visitor accounts. Fonts and artwork are served from this website; no third-party font or script service is contacted.

Pages are delivered by Cloudflare. To deliver and protect the website, Cloudflare processes request information such as IP addresses, requested pages, time and browser type. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Project inquiries

The inquiry form does not send data to this website or store it. It prepares an email in your own email app; you decide whether to send it.

If you write to us, we use your name, contact details and message to answer and to prepare a possible project (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and delete them when they are no longer needed, unless retention is legally required.

The workbench

The idea workbench runs in your browser. This website does not send your question to a server or save it to browser storage.

Cookies & your choice

Choose “Accept cookies”, or enable “Remember my choice” in Manage preferences and select “Save preferences”, to save a notice preference in a first-party cookie named gv_privacy. Its value is v1-notice; it contains no visitor identifier or workbench question and expires after 180 days. It is limited to this website host and uses Secure and SameSite=Lax.

“Reject optional” removes this optional cookie. Closing the notice adds no cookie. The notice may appear again on a new page or visit. Reopen Cookie choices to clear a saved preference, or remove it in your browser.

Visitors from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein who open the English pages are taken to the German website, geoventurelabs.de. Cloudflare derives the country from the IP address for that request only; we do not store it. If you then choose English with the language switch, a first-party cookie named gv_lang (value en, one year, no identifier) remembers that choice so you are not redirected again. It is set only when you ask for English and is necessary to provide that language (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
